Breakwall (2020)
Whenever the ocean gets angry enough, the eastern break wall at the local harbour bears the brunt of that energy. When it coincides with the right tide and swell direction, waves explode onto the break wall, washing over the platform and dwarfing the lighthouse that sits behind it.
During these events you can usually find a handful of people crazy enough to partake in the local tradition of sitting on the fence or behind the wall as the waves explode over them, hoping not to get washed into the harbour.
While the activity got the adrenaline pumping, it was never too dangerous if you knew your way around the ocean. However in recent years it has become wildly hazardous as the concrete blocks weather and break, washing into the fence and harbour itself. Less and less people play on the wall these days and for good reason.
